It’s the kind of game you can recommend to anyone, whether they want something light and cozy or a clever set of challenges to chew on. It's easy to say , Is This Seat Taken? is a delightful, cozy puzzle adventure that is as funny as it is clever. It is one of the best feel-good puzzle games in years, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Is This Seat Taken? is a game that succeeds on this simplicity, with a strong core idea well-realised in a minimalist art style, and siloed puzzles you can tackle at your own pace. It’s never too complex or meanly challenging, but provides a smorgasbord of light-hearted and moreish challenges with little sparks of humour that keep you charmed by the experience.

Is This Seat Taken? is truly a little hidden gem of a game that was an absolute pleasure to dip my toes (and ultimately whole self) into. The aesthetics, the comical exchanges between characters, and the truly rewarding feeling and getting 100% of the thumbs up from the little shapes in your seating arrangement. All were great!

With my 100-percent playthrough clocking in at about five hours, Is This Seat Taken is a satisfying snack of a game. Complete with a chill soundtrack and a cute art style, it felt like a breath of fresh air. While I played it on PC, it would feel right at home on the go on its other platforms, Switch and mobile. It's an easy recommendation for anyone even slightly interested in puzzle games.

La misma satisfacción que produce presenciar cómo Nat termina por encontrar su sitio, curiosamente cuando deja de buscar encajar en el hueco que se supone que debía ocupar, es la que sentimos en Is This Seat Taken? cuando logramos que todas las formas encuentren la posición en el puzle que realmente les satisfaga. Tanto es así que terminamos esforzándonos más por propiciar esa alegría a los simpáticos triángulos, cuadrados, pentágonos y círculos antes que por la consecución de la puntuación perfecta. Quizá esto sea una experiencia igual de divisiva que el test de los asientos para personas introvertidas y quienes lo resuelvan a la perfección sin dudar sean quienes opten por cuidar la tranquilidad de estas formas. Ya que en el mundo real no podemos controlar un entorno potencialmente hostil como el transporte público, cómo no aprovechar nuestro poder divino como jugadores para dibujar centenares de sonrisas, incluida la nuestra.

The underlying story about someone trying to become a large, influential figure in their craft by networking and developing their own personal skills and confidence is charming and relatable.

The gameplay is a series of logic puzzles. Each level drops you into a new setting—cinemas, buses, boats, train cars—and challenges you to arrange characters according to their preferences. It starts out easy: someone wants a window seat, or a music-lover shouldn’t sit next to someone trying to nap. Over time, the combinations get trickier, forcing you to juggle multiple constraints. The best levels, in my opinion, were the diner and the train. These included little extras like moving food around or sorting luggage, which made the experience feel fresher.

Is This Seat Taken? is definitely a lovely gaming experience. It isn’t unnecessarily long, despite the game being fundamentally a puzzle, you get enough lore and background NPC stories to really immerse yourself in the game (yes, I have been spying on everyone’s tea. Don’t judge me, we all do!). A chill, pretty game that makes your brain work without you realising it? We’ll take it!

Cozy gaming is not my main genre of gaming, but Is This Seat Taken? gives me that good brain feeling as I perfected each scenario. While I found the story not entirely interesting, the gameplay loop kept me more than intrigued as I kept passengers happy across its many levels. If doing a few levels before bed had a poster child, I could see this game contending for that prize.

Short and sweet, Is This Seat Taken? manages to make a joyful puzzle game out of classically uncomfortable social situations. It could have done with a bit more variety, even in its short runtime, but this is one that will speak to a lot of folks.

Despite the variety of location types, some core parts of the challenge can become repetitive, but there's more than enough to keep you going to credits.

Su duración es de unas 6 horas para completar la historia principal, aunque puede alargarse un par de horas más si eres completista. Además si tienes la oportunidad de instalarlo en Steam Deck, te recomiendo hacer como yo, pues te aseguro que te espera una experiencia ideal para jugar de manera relajada mientras estas en la piscina o la playa.
